Artist Statement
As I expand my medium as a multimedia artist & teacher and define my use of materials as found histories within objecthood of the presence through playfulness. I cannot help but note through the presence of materials within my studio our environment reflects our objecthood through their placement of play or use in any medium as a formation of presence. Materials can exist as objects themselves, components of objects, or remnants of prior formations, each carrying a latent history that informs their current state. In gathering, defining, and expanding a collection of aesthetically significant objects, we create a "pillar or totem" of interwoven histories, bridging the past through the present.I seek the connection within understandings through the past and present within our elements and principles, often using inherited or found histories as the material or object such as my grandfather’s collection of glass insulators or through colors red and green light as play and upcycling objects such as, fabric swatches, acrylic paint, cardboard rolls, magazine cutouts, and collage elements from my past work in design or current work in education. This process of collecting and curating transforms materials, not just as static remnants but as active participants in a dialogue with my studio's evolving practice. My teachings are rooted in cyclical relationships and the joy of being present, connecting the viewer to moments of memory within the material's past or present history as the viewer as I do as the collector. By situating these objects within our current creative framework, we extend their histories while simultaneously creating new narratives of objecthood.

Bio
I was born and raised upon the waters of Albany, Georgia and I carry with me the landscapes, cityscapes, and local history of Southwest Georgia. I enjoy spending time with animals, gardening, eating & preparing good food, and traveling.  First, I pursued an Associate of Graphic Design from Albany State University while practicing a studio-based work ethic in graphic design & interior design within galleries & showrooms.
I then, transferred to Athens, Georgia to work in the same fields & study at the University of Georgia where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in January 2020.  Over the last eight years, I have worked with students, artists, and designers within art education, galleries, and designer showrooms. I am currently redoing a studio/gallery in the Palmyra Heights Historic District of Southwest Georgia and pursuing my Master of Fine Arts at Georgia Southern University. In my work, I prioritize community-based projects.
